Thrifty Thursday

One of my favorite thrift stores is Volunteers of America. I often find doll things there and most of my fabric is thrifted from there as well. One of the best things I've found there is a really nice chair and the best part about it was the price. ONLY $5.00!!!

Recent Sewing Projects.

I haven't been doing a great job keeping up with this blog lately :( I am very new to the blogosphere so please bear with me as I attempt to keep this blog up to date and try to have interesting information.

That being said, here are a couple of projects I worked on recently. I did a commission for a lovely lady who is giving her brother a Bobobie Sprite Mini for Christmas. She wanted to give a Link ~ Legend of Zelda costume along with it, so she contacted me and this is what I made for her.

I also was part of a themed swap on Den of Angels (DoA). I had a great deal of fun with this swap. It was one of the few of many swaps that I actually received a very lovely outfit from my swap partner. She even send it well before the shipping date. I was thrilled with what she made for me and I was thrilled to make something for her doll as well.

I have admired all of her dolls for quite sometime. They are all interesting and unique characters. For this particular swap the theme was Dark Circus and it just so happened that her doll was a Johnny Depp/Mad Hatter. :D She wanted a ring master outfit suitable for both her character and the theme of the swap.

I used Adams-Harris Brummel Pattern for the Jacket and Vest, Adams-Harris My Guy pattern for the Shirt and a Tutorial on Instructables to make the Mad Hatter Hat. Here are some of my progress pics of the hat and the completed outfit before I sent it off to my swap partner.

And my swap partner was kind enough to allow me to share her pics of the outfit on her doll. Photos Courtesy of PoeticSoul.

Whip It!

I recently finished a commission. The person who commissioned me requested a full outfit based on Oliver from the movie Whip It! She sent along the following reference pics.

She also requested some dark blue distressed denim jeans. I love the challenge of finding just the right materials and trying to make something that is close to what is requested. This outfit was for a MSD Dollzone Megi. Here are the final Results
